Just shy of 50 miles this week. I felt I had to take it back a notch after last weekend’s long run left me so drained. Four days on and three days off my feet. I would have preferred to push for a 55+ week. This was what I had on the plan for The Oregano Project. However, it was a necessary sacrifice miles for the benefit of freshness undertaking the next entry in the experiments series.
Gym work – I can’t say it again so I won’t say it. We all know what needs to happen there and I really am feeling the lack of it now. Especially the elastic return to readiness following long runs that is improved with strength training.
The Clonmel Half Marathon is coming up in a couple of weeks. This will be the first test on the road into Dublin. Originally at the outset of the year this was on the plan for sub-92. Thoughts changed with everything going so well until I was knocked off my feet; I was considering an attempt at 90 minutes. However, sub-93 is the new goal and it will still be a good PB anyway. I will leave the sub-90 attempt until the Waterford AC half in December.
