Very happy with things this week. The goal was to aim 60 miles and I just tipped the scales on that target. Felt fresh throughout the week with nothing longer than 10 miles prior to the weekend long run. I managed to get to my physio also – the excellent Anthony Flanagan who has always been there over the years to sort niggles and keep me in good shape. Booked in again for a “freshen up” before race day but the report is that I’m not looking too bad.

The biggest thing to come out of this week was the validation of the pacing strategy. The culmination of almost 12 months work and I’ll be honest, it was a rather daunting start to the weekend, confident yet self-doubting that this would reveal itself as the correct choice. Thankfully the chosen format does appear solid and my running buddies are in agreement too. You can’t beat approval from other very capable runners to help settle the nerves.

No gym work by design this week. Not enough days in the week and patently unnecessary also having squeezed in a good session last week. I will more than likely get a session done towards the end of this coming week and that will be the last gym outing ahead of Dublin. It’s starting to get very real!
