This week was all about the unofficial target race. The annual Beat the Train 10-mile race was not on my original calendar for the year (nothing after the Dublin Marathon was) but I had always intended to do it if I was in one piece. At the outset, I had hoped I would be in one piece after all these miles but I really didn’t know!
The race couldn’t have went better (see my report) and was the icing on a sensible week of sharpening sessions and proper recovery. Just breaking through the 40-mile mark on my feet for the week. However, I also managed to squeeze in a long cycle on Sunday. Taking off on the Greenway from Waterford to Dungarvan – very pleasant and a nice easy stretch for the legs. Almost thirty uncounted miles of light cardio.
No weight sessions this week following the unexpected 50-mile week last week. I’ll hit the gym in the coming days though for some easy lifts.
