The first the the refocussed weeks done. Not very many miles, possibly my lowest in 2 years when not off my feet for some unavoidable reason. The structure is everything though. Still having a bit of fun with the duration of the sessions as you can see. The key thing is that certain aspects of training are being covered and the rest is just a bit of fun.
The 10-miler that I finished the week with was certainly a bit of a push in these times. I structured it to be a fast first 4 miles and then slog home with the intention of hitting 10 miles somewhere between 74 and 75 minutes. I got there but it was tough going. It’s amazing how fast the ability to sustain pace over distance drops when you find your usual routine halted like this. Thirty miles used to be a weekend, now it’s a week.
However, happy enough with each of the sessions put in and another week ahead before the 5k challenge. We’ll see if I can at least sustain some sort of respectable pace over 3.1 miles.
